NP (SL) Limited Marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Spotlighting Psychosocial Well-Being
In attendance were representatives from regulatory institutions, the Sierra Leone Fire Force, customers, and BRV contractors.
In her presentation, the Human Resource and Administration Manager, Mrs. Georgina Williams, drew attention to key psychosocial hazards in the workplace, including heavy workloads, unfair treatment, harassment, stress, and undefined roles. She explained that NP (SL) Limited is actively addressing these challenges through deliberate, structured measures, including promoting responsible communication, establishing clear processes to support efficient work, and fostering an inclusive work environment. Emphasizing a culture of care, she encouraged staff to routinely check in on one another and to reach out for support when needed.The representative from the Sierra Leone Fire Force, Mr. Musa Kasue, Kissy Fire Commander, commended NP SL for its consistent adherence to safety protocols and proactive approach to risk management. He noted that the Company’s dedication to compliance and preventive measures sets a commendable standard within the industry. "n terms of compliance, with fire extinguishers, all sprinklers, and safety gears, they are really complying."
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer, Ing. Dr. Mohamed S. Kanu emphasized NP SL’s ongoing commitment to international best practices, particularly its focus on achieving and maintaining ISO certifications. He specifically referenced ISO 45001:2018, the global standard for occupational health and safety management systems, noting that the Company remains resolute in aligning its operations with such standards to ensure continuous improvement in workplace safety and employee well-being.
The Company’s Health, Safety, and Environment Officer, Mr. Saffea Thomas Gbamanja, also addressed attendees, reaffirming NP SL’s strong safety culture. He highlighted the critical role safety plays in the Company’s operations and reiterated that safeguarding lives, assets, and the environment remains a top priority in all aspects of the business.
The event concluded on a high note, with a renewed sense of purpose among staff and stakeholders, reinforcing NP SL’s position as a safety-conscious organization dedicated to fostering a healthy and supportive working environment for all.
